BAHRAIN RACE REVIEW:
The driver and teams were in an upbeat mood upon arrival at the circuit. There were a few new drivers aiming to make a name for themselves, while the teams looked forward to showing off some new upgrades, that they thought would give them the advantage over the rest of the field. The heat was intense, the grand stands full to bursting, it was time for Speed Force Racing's Bahrain Qualifying. There was a mixture of drivers using differing tyre compounds, some trying to use the soft tyre to try a different strategy come race day. With the cars setting quicker and quicker times as the track became more alive it was Mr Pole Man himself Ramavaj claiming a 3rd straight pole position. This is becoming a familiar story, the rest of the field still lagging behind Ramavaj. What would race day hold for the drivers hopes of catching and passing Ramavaj.
Lights out:
What a start every driver used their formation lap well to get their tyres to the right temperature, their bite points spot on. The cars all barrelling down to turn one Ramavaj holding his position very well. There is a bit of contact with a few cars, but all seems well as the cars start heading towards turn 3. With the searing heat belting down on the track, the tyres were starting to feel the abrasive nature of the Bahrain track. With many drivers showing how to handle these fierce machines correctly we came down to the first round of stops. Where a few drivers felt they could keep going trying to do a one stop race. The drivers on a one stop had good pace going forward until the cars on fresher rubber closed on to them at an incredible rate. The race was calming down a bit with every driver aiming to hit every apex, controlling wheel spin to get that little extra out of the tyres they were on.
Pit time came calling for the one stoppers allowing those chasing to start to get a nice space between them, the cars on the one stop strategy came back out looking to gain a little time on the cars in front. But as the race wore on some drivers attention began to slip, with a few not finishing due to some incidents that could of been avoided.
With the rest of the field completing their race strategy it was down to pure pace till the chequered flag. There were some close battles, but in the end Ramavaj tamed the track and apparently the rest of the drivers too.
3 wins in 3, but the drivers will not take this lying down, the next event in Russia is where we might get a resurgence from the rest of the field. Here's hoping!!
Driver of the day goes to Techno -thriller, what a drive 16th to 3rd, the fans are expecting a challenge from him to take on the might of Ramavaj. And with a performance like this i think we will get a hell of a show next time.
